Hardly any Munich district packs this much contrast into such a small area. Above the festival grounds watches the Bavaria statue with the Ruhmeshalle, and the Alter Südfriedhof lies as a green haven in the middle of the Isarvorstadt. During the Wiesn the grounds turn into the world's largest folk festival for around two weeks.
