Beihilfe beneficiaries combine their allowance (50–80 % depending on the federal state) with supplementary private cover and are generally fully covered. Statutory patients pay as self-payers and may deduct the costs as extraordinary expenses under § 33 EStG. Travellers with international health or travel insurance receive an international invoice, in English on request. We state the expected price range by phone before the doctor sets out.

Does the private doctor also come at night or on weekends?

The service operates daily from 6 am to midnight, including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. After midnight, the statutory on-call service (116 117) takes over, and 112 handles emergencies.

Is the private on-call service an emergency doctor?

No. The emergency doctor arrives via 112 with the rescue service and handles life-threatening situations. The private on-call service treats urgent, non-life-threatening complaints at home; with warning signs such as chest pain, shortness of breath or unconsciousness, call 112 immediately.

Does the doctor also see sick children?

Yes, the home-visit service also treats acutely ill children. Many of the physicians are parents themselves and attuned to children's needs. However, not every doctor on duty treats infants and toddlers, so please contact us in advance by phone or via the online booking so we can schedule the right physician for your child.
