Steglitz-Zehlendorf, Berlin's district of established private clientele
The district of Steglitz-Zehlendorf extends from Steglitz and Lankwitz in the north through Lichterfelde, Zehlendorf and Dahlem to Wannsee, Nikolassee and Schlachtensee in the south. Around 310,000 people live here, and hardly any other Berlin district has such a high share of privately insured patients, academic households, Beihilfe-entitled civil servants and established senior residents. Local medical care density is exceptionally good, and precisely because of that, our house call service does not compete with the existing family practice but supplements it when the journey to the long-standing family doctor is no longer manageable or when the consulting hours simply do not fit the situation.
Dahlem is a chapter of its own: numerous ambassadorial residences, the Free University, the Max Planck Institute and a correspondingly international academic clientele. In Zehlendorf, Nikolassee and Wannsee, villas, established family homes and a pronouncedly high share of seniors dominate. In Lichterfelde, Lankwitz and central Steglitz the structure is more fine-grained, apartment buildings, renovated old-builds, terraced houses.
Typical conditions
In Steglitz-Zehlendorf age-related care questions dominate our house calls as in no other district: hypertension, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, diabetes, COPD, early dementia, the aftermath of falls and mobility limitations. Among the families around Schlachtensee and Nikolassee we add classic family-medicine topics, fever in children, respiratory infections, migraine, gastrointestinal illness. With diplomatic families in Dahlem we often treat travel-related infections or acute concerns before important engagements.
Discretion, international clientele, settled structures
Steglitz-Zehlendorf is a district in which discretion and thoroughness count. We are used to it, particularly in Dahlem with its diplomatic and academic clientele, in Wannsee and Nikolassee with the established senior clientele. English is the standard language in many consultations; further languages are available in the team. Billing follows the German medical fee schedule (GOÄ) via our private medical accounts office, and on request directly with the private insurer, the Beihilfe office or (with diplomatic clientele) the home-country insurer.
Emergency? Dial the emergency number
If unconscious, with severe chest pain, breathlessness or heavy bleeding, dial 112 immediately. Our service complements the emergency services. It does not replace them.

Arrival and logistics in Steglitz-Zehlendorf
From Charlottenburg we travel via the city motorway A100/A115, Hohenzollerndamm or Königin-Luise-Strasse. Steglitz, Lankwitz, Lichterfelde, central Zehlendorf, Dahlem and (at the southern city edge) Nikolassee, Schlachtensee and Wannsee are reached typically in 60 to 90 minutes.
Parking in Dahlem, Nikolassee and Wannsee is generally relaxed, villas with their own driveways, quiet streets, plenty of green. In central Steglitz, Lichterfelde and Lankwitz we ask for the bell name, floor and any hint about a rear courtyard. With senior patients we briefly coordinate with relatives, household help or the nursing service in advance so that access is smooth.
Availability
Hours and arrival time
RAB is available daily from 6 am to midnight, 365 days a year. In Steglitz-Zehlendorf we expect 60 to 90 minutes arrival time from the moment we accept the call. Steglitz and Lankwitz in the north of the district are among the faster-reached areas from Roscherstrasse; Wannsee, Nikolassee and Schlachtensee at the southern city edge take correspondingly longer.
The same medical expertise applies throughout, including at the Wannsee. For the older clientele in the district we arrange scheduled house calls at agreed intervals on request, with fixed weekdays and time slots. English-language consultations are almost daily practice in Dahlem.

Case profiles
Typical reasons for a house call in Steglitz-Zehlendorf
Elderly patient in Zehlendorf
An 88-year-old private patient in a villa around Onkel-Tom-Strasse, with heart failure, atrial fibrillation and early dementia, lives alone with household help. Her daughter in Munich organises her care. We attend once a month on schedule, check blood pressure, INR, leg oedema and cognitive function, adjust medication and coordinate with the daughter by phone.
Diplomat in Dahlem
A diplomat at a western European embassy, residing in an ambassadorial property around Pacelliallee, calls in with high fever, chills and headache, he has a reception the following day. We attend, examine, rule out a bacterial focus, prescribe therapy and issue English-language documentation for the home-country insurer.
Family by the Schlachtensee
An academic family with three children in a single-family house around Spanische Allee. One of the children has developed high fever and abdominal pain overnight, the parents want a clear medical assessment before a journey to a practice. We attend, examine, clinically rule out acute appendicitis, advise on next steps and offer a follow-up phone consultation the next day.
Senior couple at the Wannsee
An 84-year-old private patient and his 82-year-old wife in a villa with views of the Wannsee. Both have long-standing family doctors in the city, but the trips have become increasingly tiring. We take on family-doctor care for planned occasions (influenza vaccination, hypertension follow-up, small wound care) and coordinate with their long-standing clinicians in the city.
Neighbourhoods
Neighbourhoods in Steglitz-Zehlendorf
Dahlem
Dahlem is the academic villa district in Berlin's southwest: Free University, Max Planck institutes, Botanical Garden and embassy residences along Pacelliallee and Im Dol, with an unusually high private-insurance share. We look after professors, diplomats and international families along Thielallee and Dahlemer Weg; several colleagues consult fluently in English and issue English-language invoices for international health insurers. Arrival 60 to 90 minutes.
Wannsee
Wannsee is Berlin's most exclusive lakeside address: along Grosser Wannsee, Am Sandwerder and Conradstrasse lie some of Germany's most valuable residential plots. We look after a wealthy, often older clientele as well as weekend residents whose primary homes are in southern Germany, Switzerland or abroad. Long driveways, gatehouses and gate codes are familiar to us; access is clarified briefly at booking. Arrival 60 to 90 minutes.
Nikolassee
Nikolassee combines the calm of the Wannsee villas with the family-friendliness of an established residential area: around Rehwiese, Lueckhoffstrasse and Spanische Allee live many families with international backgrounds, shaped by the John F. Kennedy School and the Berlin Brandenburg International School. We consult in English, issue English school certificates and know the reimbursement routes of international private insurers. Arrival 60 to 90 minutes.
Zehlendorf-Sued
Southern Zehlendorf covers the quiet single-family quarters between Mexikoplatz, Onkel-Toms-Huette and Krumme Lanke, with one of Berlin's highest private-insurance shares. Many of our patients are retired civil servants, doctors and families with inherited property around Beerenstrasse and Sundgauer Strasse. On request we forward findings and prescriptions to the regular practice in a GDPR-compliant manner. Arrival 60 to 90 minutes.
Schlachtensee
Schlachtensee is one of the most sought-after areas in southwestern Berlin: large single-family houses and town villas along Am Schlachtensee, Matterhornstrasse and Wasgenstrasse, often inhabited in the second or third generation. The population is established, academically shaped and older than Berlin's average. We are familiar with lakeside houses, hillside driveways and narrow access roads. Arrival 60 to 90 minutes.
Lichterfelde-West
Lichterfelde-West is one of Berlin's earliest planned villa districts: grand turn-of-the-century town houses and villas along Drakestrasse, Curtiusstrasse and Limonenstrasse, many carefully restored. We look after seniors in the villas and young families in the renovated town houses; long entrance paths and multi-storey staircases, with or without a lift, are familiar to us. Arrival 60 to 90 minutes.
