If the call reveals a genuine emergency, such as unconsciousness or heart-attack signs, the control centre immediately alerts the ambulance service via 112, with no time lost.

In most cases you either get phone advice, a referral to one of Berlin's on-call clinics, or, if you are verifiably not transportable, a home visit from the statutory on-call service.
